Landing Site

SPUR's Online Gallery

Landing Site is an online gallery and exhibition format instigated by our website re-launch, and development of the AOL online residency project. The Landing Site exhibition will involve selecting a different artist each month to develop and produce a piece of work to be displayed on the Landing Site Gallery on the homepage of our website, which has been specially created to be used as an open gallery space.

The exhibitions will look to focus on interactive works alongside a range of diverse 2D and virtual media. Enabling Landing Site to act as a gallery space will allow SPUR to have a continuous exhibition program, and further explore the process of working with artists and experimental development of projects.

The first work on the Landing Site gallery was Clock, by artist and web designer James Maxfield. His digital clock showed time in a continuous cycle, demonstrating how the internet has no sense of defined or set time or duration. Doug Bowen’s work [online] longline [2014] (variable) looked at the whole website front as a space for taking up habitation, changing the cursor, favicon, background and tab header Bowen took a sense of ownership over the site exploring the use of and ownership of websites.

Hi Spur, your new site sounds really interesting and might link to some of the things we've been up to recently. Our next film is an interview with Julia Crabtree & William Evans who've created a homepage takeover for Legion TV in London. Do take a look when it goes up, it should be on the site by the end of the week.
