Print display and portfolio publication.

March 2014

SPUR was asked to be part of the International Artists Book Fair, held at The Tetley, we were invited to organize an event or exhibition to be held in conjunction with the rest of the book fair over the course of the 6-9th of March.

Appropriation was a one-colour A3 riso print display of works, formed into a loose leaf portfolio publication, at an edition of 50. The exhibition was opened on the Book Fair opening event on Friday 6th March and will stay up until the 16th of March.

We asked a number of different artists to work on a quick fire project on the theme of appropriation in imagery and text, looking at appropriation poetry as a reference point. In total we received around 27 images from 16 artists, 18 were displayed in the exhibition but each has been printed and included in the publication.

The full installation in the room was a collaboration with Village Bookstore, an independent artist book shop in Leeds, included in the display alongside the prints were 2 purpose built shelving units made to display a variety of artist books.
